I knew it! I've been wondering why when I put a new roll of toilet paper on the holder, it seems like there's extra jiggle room on the sides. Didn't it used to fit in there without so much back and forth slack?
Well a little research on this subject (I have time on my hands) reveals the shocking truth!!! Toilet paper is narrower! Just a few years ago, the standard sheet of tp was 4.5 inches square. Now, most toilet paper is just 4.1 inches across! That's a decrease of...of...well some number that may seem insignificant, but I bet it's saved those toilet-paper-company-executive-fat-cats millions, while the rest of us struggle just to buy fresh roasting-rabbits. (Well, that's the struggle around my house)
If anything, given our expanding sizes, shouldn't they be providing us with wider toilet paper? I'll be those smart-alec execs have a private stock of the wide stuff!
