Thanks for spending part of your day with me. I try to play the songs you love and talk about the things that are important to you like what's going on in Hollywood, music news, and real life happenings. If there is something I miss, let me know. And, thanks for listening!
It's that time of the year. People all over the world are picking out Christmas Trees to place in their homes, offices, or other places where they want to celebrate the holiday and decorate.
If you're having trouble deciding on a tree, consider the one on display at the Ginza Tanaka jewelry store in Tokyo, Japan. The revolving tree is outstanding and unique, as it's made of pure gold and features Disney characters.
Here are more specific details for you:
- The ornament is made of 88 pounds of pure gold.
- It's height is about eight feet, and it's three feet in diameter.
- It is decorated with pure gold-plate silhouette cutouts of 50 well-known Disney characters.
- It is draped with gold leaf ribbons.
Oh yeah, and the tree costs 350 million yen. In other words- $4.2 million. Sounds expensive, right? Well, Tomoko Ishibashi, who works in the marketing department of Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry (which runs the Ginza Tanaka jewelry store), says the tree is a good deal.
"Right now gold is over 4,400 yen per gram. We used pure gold and had an expert craftsman form each Disney character by hand," she said.
The golden ornament took ten craftsmen two months to finish.
My issue is that is doesn't look like a Christmas tree and it's ugly no matter who much it's worth. Bah humbug but really, it's not pretty!
